Barnyard Commandos is a line of action figures and a comic book series created by James Groman in the late 1980s. The toys featured anthropomorphic animals, such as pigs, sheep, and cows, equipped with weapons and armor. The premise of the series centered around two factions, the R.A.M.S. (Rebel Animal Military Swine) and the P.O.R.K.S. (Platoon of Rebel Killer Swine), engaged in a war for control of the barnyard.
The figures were popular with children in the late 1980s and early 1990s, spawning a short-lived animated television series in 1990. While the toys and the show did not achieve the lasting success of other similar franchises like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Barnyard Commandos has maintained a cult following among collectors and enthusiasts of retro toys.
